What ports should I open on firewall for passive connections?

In the FTP/S protocols, passive connections are used for file transfers and directory listings. The number of ports open at any given time depends on the number of concurrent passive connections. For example, 100 concurrent file transfers would require 100 open ports on the server. The ports that are opened on the server are randomly selected based on availability. If however you want to limit the port range used by JSCAPE MFT Server then this can be set in JSCAPE MFT Server Manager under Services > FTP > Passive port range. When using a port range it is important that this range is large enough to support several concurrent passive connections and should not overlap any ports that are currently in use. You may use this port range in your firewall rules.
