Unable to establish more than 10 concurrent connections using SSH or SFTP
Posted by Van Glass on 22 March 2007 03:52 PM
Many SSH servers limit the number of concurrent unauthenticated connections. This is done generally to prevent a DOS (Denial of Service) attack. If you are using JSCAPE components to launch several concurrent connections against an SSH server you may find that some of these connections get dropped, returning an exception when trying to connect. This is a result of the unauthenticated connection limit set on the server and is not an issue of the JSCAPE component. To resolve this issue you will need to modify your SSH server configuration to increase this limit and restart your SSH server. For the OpenSSH server this limit is controlled in the sshd_config file using the MaxStartups property.

For more information regarding the OpenSSH MaxStartups property please see the following:

For other SSH server vendors please consult your vendors documentation.
