How to scan uploaded files for viruses and other malware
Posted by John Villanueva, Last modified by Van Glass on 13 August 2020 12:31 PM

There are two main types of antivirus software: those that do on-access scanning and those that do on-demand scanning.

If your antivirus supports on-access scanning, then it will automatically scan files as soon as those files enter the filesystem. You won't have to configure anything on JSCAPE MFT Server to make this work. You can simply install the antivirus/antimalware program on the machine where JSCAPE MFT Server runs and, assuming it is configured correctly, it should automatically scan files as they come in.

However, if your antivirus/antimalware is designed for on-demand scanning and it has a command-line user interface, then you should be able to integrate it with JSCAPE MFT Server.

Here are a couple of sample tutorials that show how you can activate on-demand antivirus scanning using a trigger:

The key here is to know what command-line command needs to be executed to run the on-demand scan.
