How to set up SFTP public key authentication

SFTP public key authentication is an alternate method of authentication to password-based authentication. It authenticates the user/client based on something the user/client has, known as a private key or secret key. When used in conjunction with password-based authentication, public key authentication enables 2FA (2 factor authentication), a much stronger method of authentication.
