Search feature in end user Web interface doesn't work

Sometimes, when a user runs a search via the search box found in the end user Web UI, the interface returns a "0 result(s) found" even if the file actually exists.

There are two possible reasons for this.

1. The user intended to search for a filename. By default, the search box in the UI is used to search for file content. In order to search for a file, you need to expand the search box (please see screenshot) and enter the search query in the field "Search on file name. e.g. *.txt". You may use a wildcard in the query, e.g. 1234* or literally 1234.jpeg.

 

 

2. If that doesn't work at your end, then it's likely because the file has not yet been indexed. To configure the indexing settings or to do an ad-hoc indexing ("Rebuild Index" button), launch the MFT Server Manager and then go to Server > Settings > Search Index.
