How to point a newly installed MFT Server instance to the same shared database as an existing MFT Server instance

Note: This only applies to MFT Server versions that use a global datastore for storing server configuration data.

In later versions of MFT Server (9.3 and above), server configuration data is stored in a database known as a global datastore.

While the default global datastore is a local DB2 database that comes with the installation of MFT Server, it's possible to use an external relational database like MySQL or Oracle. One advantage of using an external database is that it's easy to let multiple instances of MFT Server have the same configuration settings. You just point them to the same external relational database.

To do that, just copy the etc/database.properties file from the existing MFT Server instance to the "etc" directory of all new MFT Server instances.

When MFT Server instances point to the same shared database, any change you make to one instance will be replicated to all other instances connecting to the same shared database.
